Bobby Hicks Joins SEBA!

Welcome to SEBA, Bobby Hicks!

Bobby Hicks, 2008

For over 50 years, Bobby Hicks has set the standard for fiddlers everywhere through a variety of styles, and SEBA is extremely proud to welcome this multi-Grammy winning fiddling legend, with deep (all the way back to Bill Monroe) bluegrass roots, into the SEBA fold. Welcome to SEBA Bobby Hicks!

A native of Newton, North Carolina, Hicks first served as one of Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys beginning in 1954. In August of 2007 Hicks conducted an advanced fiddle workshop and performed with SEBA member band the Dappled Grays (Dappled Grays’ SEBA Member Page) at the Cliff Valley Bluegrass Festival in Atlanta. Hicks returned in December to appear again with the Dappled Grays at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. On February 1st Bobby Hicks and the Dappled Grays will appear once again at the Dennison Bluegrass Festival in Granville, OH. (way to go Dappled Grays!)

Hicks has also spent time mentoring promising young SEBA fiddlers such as Aerin DeJarnette (Georgia Fiddle Queen 2007), Maddie Denton, Kayla Custer, and Morgan Musselwhite, and plans occasional revisits to the greater Metro Atlanta area to conduct advanced fiddle workshops. (and hopefully appear again with our very own Dappled Grays).
