Blairsville’s mayor Jim Conley was presented this award at our 3rd Annual Bluegrass Celebration in Blairsville on September 20, 2008. The SEBA Board of Directors voted unanimously to present this award to Blairsville for the dedication of its public servants and civic-minded citizenry who recognize the community-enhancing aspects of bluegrass music. Through the combined efforts of Sam Ensley and all the volunteers at the Union County Historical Society, the Blairsville Downtown Development Authority, and the community-minded corporate sponsors, this bluegrass weekend — which involved thousands — has become one of north Georgia’s fall season highlights.
