Dan Daniel

Dan Daniel Biography Dan has been involved in music most of his life. His Mother taught him to sing in church as a very young boy, and then Dan taught himself to play Guitar from a book at the age of 9 years old. He played and sang gospel and Irish songs for his mom and practiced at home. He joined his first Band at the age of 14 while in High School. After high school he served in the military and Viet Nam and did not have much time to play music. After he came home from the service he went to work for Southern Bell where he met several musicians and played folk and country music in and around his home in Marietta, Georgia. In 1969 a bass player he knew invited him to go to his first bluegrass festival and the rest is history. Dan fell in love with this Genre of music and still plays it full time today with his band Georgia Grass that he started in 1973. His band is one of the oldest bluegrass bands in Georgia and the Southeast and is very well known. Georgia Grass performed all around the Atlanta area at clubs and private events and often at Bluegrass Festivals in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North and South Carolina and around the Southeast. In 1976 Georgia Grass was asked to perform for the Grand Opening of the New Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Dan is still very involved in the bluegrass community. He is the President and CEO of the Southeastern Bluegrass Association. He is also a lifetime member of the Bonded Brothers of Bluegrass. Dan has received many awards in his long music career and in 2009 he was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2017 Dan Received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Atlanta Society of Entertainers. And in 2019 Dan was awarded the Fiddlin’ John Carson Award for his contributions to the music industry in the state of Georgia.
